Odisha Pavilion at Pravasi Bharatiya Divas Showcases State’s Rich Heritage and Craftsmanship

Bhubaneswar : The 18th Pravasi Bharatiya Divas (PBD) Convention has commenced in Bhubaneswar, Odisha, with a special focus on celebrating the state’s rich history, heritage, and craftsmanship. A dedicated ‘Odisha Pavilion’ has been set up at Janata Maidan, drawing attention to the state’s cultural and artistic treasures.

The pavilion features an array of exquisite art and craft, including handwoven sarees, intricate filigree work, and other traditional masterpieces that highlight Odisha’s unique cultural identity. Visitors can explore the state’s rich textile heritage through displays of Sambalpuri, Bomkai, and Berhampuri sarees, each showcasing the intricate weaving techniques and vibrant patterns that Odisha is renowned for.

In addition to textiles, the pavilion also showcases the state’s renowned filigree work, a delicate and intricate form of silver jewelry making that has been passed down through generations of skilled artisans. Other traditional crafts on display include Pattachitra paintings, stone carvings, and brass and bell metal works, offering a comprehensive glimpse into Odisha’s artistic heritage.

The Odisha Pavilion aims to not only celebrate the state’s cultural richness but also to promote its artisans and craftsmen on a global platform. By highlighting these traditional art forms, the pavilion seeks to attract investment and support for the preservation and promotion of Odisha’s cultural heritage.

The Pravasi Bharatiya Divas Convention, inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, brings together members of the Indian diaspora from around the world to celebrate their contributions to India’s development. This year’s theme, ‘Diaspora’s Contribution to a Viksit Bharat,’ emphasizes the role of the Indian diaspora in shaping a developed and prosperous India.
