Odisha to Get Ayush Hospitals in Ganjam, Dhenkanal: CM Mohan Majhi
Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Wednesday announced the establishment of Ayush hospitals in Ganjam and Dhenkanal districts, furthering the state’s commitment to promoting traditional healthcare systems.
Speaking at the 75th Foundation Day celebration of Gopabandhu Ayurveda Mahavidyalaya in Puri, the CM highlighted the growing significance of Ayurveda in mainstream healthcare.
Majhi credited Prime Minister Narendra Modi for reviving Ayurveda through the formation of the Ayush Ministry in 2014, a move that transformed it from being a marginalised practice into a vital part of India’s healthcare system. “Before 2014, Ayurveda received minimal attention and funding. With the creation of the Ayush Ministry, traditional medicine found a new direction and hope,” he stated.
The CM noted that Ayurvedic practitioners have gained broader recognition in recent years, with enhanced roles in healthcare delivery. The two new hospitals aim to bolster access to Ayurveda and allied traditional medicine in Odisha.
President Droupadi Murmu, who attended the event, highlighted the importance of research in Ayurveda, stating that it holds solutions to numerous health challenges. She also stressed the benefits of maintaining harmony with nature and practising yoga to lead a disease-free life.
Drawing from her tribal heritage, President Murmu highlighted the traditional knowledge of medicinal herbs among tribal communities, emphasising their role in treating various ailments.
