Thunderstorm kills two women and 20 cattle in Rayagada
Badal Tah, Odishabarta,Rayagada, 03-06-2024 : An unfortunate incident has taken place in Dhepgaon of Kadama Gram Panchayat in Gudari Block. It has been reported that 20 big bulls and cows have died due to lightning at about 5:30 PM last Sunday. Thunderstorms and heavy rains have occurred in most places of Rayagada.
Two tribal women of Mirabali and Karubai villages of Rayagada block namely Sitai Jilakara(45) and Mutuka Mandingi(45) respectively have succumbed to heavy lightening. At about 5 PM, Sitai was returning home with mahua seeds while she succumbed to the thunderstorm. Mutuka was returning home from a relative’s house in a nearby village. Both the dead bodies were brought to district headquarters hospital. As it was night, the post mortem was conducted on Monday.
Villagers of Dhepagaon in Gudari have demanded immediate & proper compensation from govt towards loss of their cattle. Similarly Karubai & Mirabali villagers have requested the district administration to compensate death of two poor tribal women, who were bread winners of their families.
