Arvind Kejriwal Arrested By ED in Delhi Liquor Policy Case
New Delhi: Delhi Chief Minister and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) chief Arvind Kejriwal was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Thursday evening following intense questioning and searches at his residence, in connection with the Delhi liquor policy case.
Following Arvind Kejriwal’s arrest, AAP Minister Atishi stated firmly that he “is and will remain” the Chief Minister of Delhi, affirming the party’s stance amidst the unfolding situation.
“We have always said that Arvind Kejriwal will run the government from jail. He will remain the CM of Delhi. We have filed a case in the Supreme Court. Our lawyers are reaching the Supreme Court,” Atishi told the media.
The AAP has also moved the Supreme Court seeking to quash the arrest of Arvind Kejriwal. “We have moved the Supreme Court and have prayed for an urgent hearing tonight,” said AAP Minister Saurabh Bharadwaj.
This development transpired mere hours after the Delhi High Court declined to provide interim relief from any coercive measures against Kejriwal. The Chief Minister had lodged a petition in the court challenging the summonses issued to him by the Enforcement Directorate.
