Why Banks Open after the Business Hours (?)
Berhampur: In order to recent SBI ATM loot in Bhubaneswar the Berhampur Police advised the banks to upgrade the security arrangements at their respective branches and ATM kiosks.
The Berhampur Superintendent of Police, directed to all the Inspectors-In-Charge (IIC) of all police stations in Berhampur Police district on what measures to be taken to more vigilant to avoid the bank and ATM loots in the city.
We will increase our night patrolling, especially at places located on the city outskirts. All police stations were asked to take it seriously and keep a strict vigil at ATMs which are unguarded.
The SP also told that they will hold a meeting with the bankers and money deposit agencies over measures to be taken how to strengthen security at ATM counters.
He further said that if banks and ATMs were found without security personnel, strong action will be taken against the bank authorities.
It’s matter regret, many nationalised and private sector banks are remains opened even after the business hours till 10PM (?).
Reliable source reveal that after 7 PM they do not have any valid insurance coverage which need to verify the competent authority (?).
Last Monday SDPO,(City),SDPO,(Sadar) with all IICs’ of all Police stations with armed force made a massive night patrolling and arranged “Naka” entire the city especially to all ATMs’.
Miscreants Loot Rs 10.59 Lakhs From SBI ATM In Bhubaneswar
On last Monday some Unidentified miscreants looted Rs 10.59 lakhs from a SBI ATM in the Old Town area of Bhubaneswar late on Sunday night.
Based on a complaint lodged by the bank officials, the commissionerate police registered a case and launched an investigation into the incident.
Deputy Commissioner of Police Prateek Singh along with personnel from the Shree Lingaraj Police Station and special squad officers reached the spot after being informed by the locals on Monday morning.
Police investigating team said that the robbers cut into the machine with a gas cutter and decamped with Rs 10.59 lakhs taken from the ATM. They had first sprayed black colour on the CCTV installed at the kiosk before committing the crime to avoid being identified.
Speaking to scribe Prateek Singh,DCP said, the miscreants committed the crime late night and they also sprayed black colour on the cameras and lights placed at the kiosk. We suspect the involvement of a gang having expertise in such a type of crime. It has been ascertained prima facie that the ATM kiosk lacked the required security measures and the alarm system was also not working properly.
Further, Singh added that the police will also investigate why the security agencies had not taken the necessary precautions regarding the lapses in the security arrangements at the ATM machine.
