BERHAMPUR: In a statement Mr Pinak Mishra,SP Berhampur said that, its a matter of regret  few persons who are exempted from the lock down are violating and dishonouring their identity cards (?).

It is being observed that, It is made clear that all employees, of all departments including media and police, health workers, essential commodities suppliers are exempted only to provide services and goods. The ID-Card and exemption should not be taken as a privilege. We have taken strict action including police personnel who are misusing the exemption. Irresponsibility becomes an incentive for others. General public are using it as an excuse to violate guidelines, he added.

He categorically mention and requested to all pass holder to maintain it  strictly follow the lock down and create awareness by practicing it.

People are coming out to distribute foods. No such permission is given by this office. BeMC is the nodal agency for that. Anyone without BeMC authorisation distributing food will be booked. Police  will be forced to take action against all those, including policemen who are misusing their identity and violating lock down. The rules are the same for all.  Your ID-Cards cannot be transferred to your family and relatives.

Berhampur Municipal Commissioner Mr Chakravartysingh Rathore, also informed in this regard and said, distribution of any relief material is allowed after taking permission from BeMC. All those who want to distribute relief can contact BeMC. Vehicles will be arranged for transportation of the relief material and one or two people from the respective group will be taken along if they want to supervise the distribution, to ensure equitable distribution.

Further, FIR will be recommended against any person who is taking up distribution on their own or interfering between the distribution by BeMC to capture the limelight. In connection on Tuesday one such FIR has been recommended against an ex-Corporator for violating the same protocol.
