18th Rural Athletics Sorts Meet kick Starts at NTPC Kaniha

Talcher:The 18th Rural Athletics Sports meet is on full swing in NTPC Talcher Kaniha from 01st March 2023. Over 450 Particiants from 32 Schools of Kaniha Block are participation in this annual sports event, organised by NTPC Kaniha under CSR in association with NTPC Kaniha Sports Council.
The Rural Athletics meet is being organised by NTPC Kaniha for the 18th year.Due Covid 19 & Pandemic the event could not be organised during the last two years. This two day long Sports event will conclude on 2nd March 2023 which will see students participate into different sports activities comprising of races, javelin throw, shot put, discus throw, high jump, long jump, relay race among others.
The Sports Meet was inaugurated by Executive Director, Sh KS Sundaram, NTPC Kaniha by flag hoisting Ceremony. Addressing the participants, Sh KS Sundaram encouraged the students to participate in sports activities and stay healthy.
He emphasized that it is equally important to engage in sports along with studies for overall development.
The event is an attempt to encourage sports among youth by NTPC CSR. The objective of the sports meet is to promote rural sports and encourage the hidden talents of Rural School Children. Around 40 NTPC employees are coordinating the events as volunteers along with Sports Council members.
The Inaugural ceremony was graced by chief guest Sh KS Sundaram, Executive Director of NTPC Kaniha, GM O&M Sh A K Sehgal, GM Project Sh RN Das, AGM HR B K Pandey, Chairman of Sports Council Sh PR Barik, Representatives of Unions & Association along with other NTPC Employees.
