ROURKELA: Amid World Cup Hokey arrangement at Rourkela, Air services between Rourkela and Bhubaneswar has started which was a long demand by the people of Rourkela. This thing could only be possible because of World Cup Hockey, feels many but two major political parties are claiming the credit for the cause and thanking their respective leaders. But the core thing is, it should have happened much earlier when Rourkela was declared a Smart city by the Center.

The timing of the flight is changed, keeping in eyes of World Cup Hockey. Now the timing is scheduled at 10.45 AM from Bhubaneswar Airport and will reach Rourkela at 11.40AM and again Flight will take off from Rourkela at 12.05M and will reach Bhubaneswar at 1PM. This Ai Service was inaugurated by Hon’ble, Naveen Patnaik yesterday. The fare for Air services are under Rs.3000/- per trip which is very economical for the people in and around Rourkela.

This service is definitely render service for many students and businessmen in the city. There are Three Medical colleges including IGH, providing DNB courses other than Hi-Tech and NTPC Medical College at Sundergarh. In addition to this the prestigious Technical college, NIT is here where student strength is more than 5600 and this year BPUT has started its B-Tech course where many students from different part of the country are coming and Air communication still considered as preferred medium of communication.

Besides, over these years many critical patients have been travelling to Cuttack and Bhubaneswar for higher treatment and they had no choice other than road and rail communication which is time taking and directly affecting health condition of the patients due to delay in treatment. Looking at all above points, Air services in coming time after Hockey World Cup will continue to be in demand. Hence, both the decision by Odisha Govt. or Govt. at Center for Air Services is welcome and people of Rourkela are all grateful for the cause.
