Savitribai Phule changed the face of women’s rights in India

CSO Atmashakti Trust observed 193rd Birth Anniversary of Savitribai Phule

Bhubaneswar: 3rd January- Remembering India’s first female teacher and pioneer of women’s rights CSO SO Atmashakti Trust observed KrantiJyoti Savitribai Phule’s 193rd birth Anniversary here in Bhubaneswar today. Members of Odisha Shramajeebee Mancha, Mahila Shramajeebee Mancha, Odisha and leaders of “Urmi” joined the event and remembered Savitribai’s achievements and significant contributions for her work towards women’s rights and abolishing the discrimination faced by people based on their caste and gender.

On this occasion, Senior Programme Manager of Atmashakti Ms Henarani Nayak said “Savitribai Phule changed the face of women’s rights in India and her contribution to the society needs to be duly recognised.”

Among others, Policy advocacy and campaign lead of Atmashakti Trust Mr Laxmidhar Singh, Bibhuti Bhushan Bindhani, Rita Bhoi, Social Activist Saroj Suna, members of Bhubaneswar Bikash Sangathan Prativa Das, Sanjukta Arukh, Hajira Begum addressed the gathering on Phule Ji’s contribution to the field of education and women’s rights shaped our society and how we can carry forward her legacy to abolish gender and caste based discrimination in India.
