Married woman attempts self-immolation on court premises

Berhampur:In a shocking incident, a woman attempted suicide by self-immolation on the premises of the Court of Sub-Divisional Judicial Magistrate (SDJM) in Berhampur on Friday at around 11.45 PM. The woman who idetified as named Jarana Swain aged 30 yrs , attempted self Immolation at the SDJM Berhampur court premises and by that time Constable Rasmi Ranjan Das who was posted for security of SDJM Berhampur stopped her and rescued her immediately with the help of few other public present there.
In connection a case has been registered at BNpur Police station vide the case no – 422/22 us 309 IPC is being registered . Meanwhile, the police started an investigation to ascertain the reason behind the suicide attempt.
Previously based on the complaint of Jarana Sahu Sadar case no – 326/20 dated 31/10/2020 us 376 2 (n) was registered against one Bapuni Sahu. Bapuni Sahu was arrested and forwarded to court. Jarana Sahu alleged that her husband Upendra Swain who was working in Hyderabad was sending money to her through Bapuni Sahu’s bank account and hence both became close. She claimed taking advantage of this Bapuni Sahu raped her repeatedly and hence Bapuni Sahu was arrested . Later he was out on bail by honorable court orders.
Notably its worthy to appreciate Constable Rasmi Ranjan Das whose timely and quick intervention saved the lady from self Immolation. His daring and quick work is appreciated by all.
On 14/11/22 based on the complaint of Jarana Swain Gosaninuagan PS case no – 204 us 376D / 307 / 354 / 342 / 506 / 34 IPC was registered. Accused Bapuni Sahu was arrested and forwarded to court.
