Gajapati Administration Banned on Child Marriage

Paralakhemundi:At Sanjay Gandhi colony of Paralakhemundi one marriage was about to be held. That came to the notice of child protection unit. Accordingly Child Marriage Protection Officer Gouri Nayak got prior information,so with task force you they reached at spot. ICDS Supervisor Amita Kumari Patra,Legal adviser Jayaprakash Badatya, Adviser pf Sakhi One Step Centre Mina Kumari Tahal, Representative of UNFPA Sanjukta Kumar Tripathy, Bijay Pradhan of Action Aid, Tapaswini Nayak of childline, Jogendra Nayak & Babitarani Mahanty of police department were present. They stopped such marriage. Birth certificate of that girl verified & family too sensitized. After interrogation by CWC that girl handed over to family. Parents given written not to marry before 18 years & will face punishable act if violate. It is decided to rehabilitate that girl by task force unit.
