Lecture on substance abuse held at Rama Krishna Mission

Rayagada, October 31: A special lecture on substance abuse was held on last Sunday in the Vivekananda Hall of Ramakrishna Mission Ashram, Hatamuniguda. The programme started with vedic chanting by the students of the ashram. Shri Ranganath Banerjee, Principal introduced the topic in the present context. Chief Guest Dr. Pradeepta Kumar Subudhi, Medical Officer In-charge, CHC Jemadeipentho, in his speech highlighted on use as well as abuse of drugs, global prevalence of drugs, different abuse substances, treatment of drug abuse, etc. through a power point presentation. Swami Sandarshananandaji Maharaj, a senior monk of the Ramakrishna Order presided over the function and in his address emphasized on meditation, concentration, love and importance of education etc. in the light of Swami Vivekananda’s teachings in combating substance abuse. Swami Gitatmananda, Secretary welcomed the dignitaries and the audience. Swami Prabhuvarananda proposed a vote of thanks. The programme  concluded with the screening of a documentary – UMEED based on the matter. Approximately 850 people, mostly students, attended the programme. All were served with noon Prasad.
