STF seizes over 4 kg brown sugar Cash over 65 Lakhs in Nayagarh

Bhubaneswar:.In a major drug haul, the Special Task Force (STF) of the Odisha Crime Branch seized over four kilos of brown sugar from Nayagarh district late on Monday night.

Reportedly, the drugs have been seized from a rented house at Nayagarh PWD Lane.

Acting on a tip-off, the STF team conducted a raid at the rented house and seized the huge quantity of brown sugar along with Rs 65 lakh cash, cash counting machine sealing machine, mobile, Aadhar Card, ATM card, PAN card, 3 pistols along with 43 unexploded ordnance from the spot. The seized contraband is estimated to be worth over Rs 4 crore.

One of the accused, identified as K.Vicky Rao has been arrested while the main accused Shiba Prasad Behera has escaped from the spot, informed Crime Branch IGP Jay Narayan Pankaj. A manhunt has been initiated to nab the main smuggler.

According to relaese.On the basis of intelligence input, a raid was conducted by team of STF, Bhubaneswar on Monday at village Udayalane, Sinduria under Nayagarh Town PS Dist. Nayagarh against illegal sale/possession of contraband Brown Sugar /illegal arms. One accused person namely K Vickey Rao S/o. K Nagesh Rao of Rajabazar PS. Jatni Dist. Khordha has been apprehended.

4. 07 nos Magazine

5. 43 rounds of 7 mm Ammunitions

6. One note counting machine

7. 04 mobile phones and

8. One tablet set

In this connection STF PS case No. 01/ 2022 U/s 21(c)/29 of NDPS Act 1985 r/w. 25/27 Arms Act has been registered. The accused Vickey Rao will be forwarded to the court.

Since 2020, in the special drive against narcotic drugs, STF has seized more than 47 Kg of Brown Sugar and arrested 122 drug dealers/peddlers.

Similarly since 2020, in drive against illegal arms, STF has seized 67 nos of fire arms.
