Results of the Andhra Elections in Kotia Announced

Koraput: The results of the Andhra elections have been announced in Kotia in Koraput district on the border of Odisha and Andhra Pradesh.  The Andhra Pradesh government on April 8 held an election for the Salu Mandal Parishad Gsnejivadra MPTC in Neredibalasa, a village in the lower Ganjaipadar village of Andhra Pradesh, which the Andhra government has named as the Ganjaivadra panchayat.  With 270 votes cast in the counting of votes at the Government Degree College in Salur today, YSR Congress candidate Majji Appalma won by a margin of 41 votes over his nearest rival, the CPM, Mary Dumbay.  Similarly, in the election for Andhra Pradesh’s Kodma MPTC, which includes the villages of Fatusineri and Fagun Sineri in Kotia Panchayat, Yinda Congress’ Oriya-speaking Ginde Gemel lost to her nearest rival TDP’s Bunda Chodipilli.  The election of Andhra Pradesh MPDC members in Ganjaipadar, Fagunsineri and Fatusineri on Odisha soil is a major step towards Andhra Pradesh’s efforts to attract the people of Odisha, the Koraput intelligentsia said.
