894 Missing Children’s Rescued In 8 Days, Abhay,DGP,Odisha

Cuttack: A total of 894 missing children were rescued in a span of eight days during a special drive launched by Odisha Police.

Director General of Police (DGP) Abhay said the rescue effort was part of a special drive in coordination with the Crime Branch, which concluded on January 25.

Among the 894 rescued children, 800 were girls and the remaining 94 boys. The maximum number of missing children, who have been traced, are from Kendrapara (127), followed by Mayurbhanj (111) and Balasore (88). Missing children from Bhadrak and Jajpur districts were also rescued.

Praising the efforts of the district Superintendents of Police in the rescue of missing children, the DGP said the special drive will continue. Abhay said the State Government had recently announced formation of a special wing under the Crime Branch to deal with offences against women and children. For the operationalisation of this wing, the Chief Minister has sanctioned the appointment of 62 staffers.
