2 Days of Power Cut Vs Tata Maintenance-How Safe are We (?)

Berhampur:After 2 Days of Power Cut in the name of Electrical Maintenance, from morning till late evening, two consecutive days, at mid night the web of electrical wires covered by cables spread by operators like BSNL, Tata-sky, railnet in the narrow lanes of Bhuteswar Street near Hanuman Bazar. The electrical department has since long forgotten that it comes under “essential” and there is something called “safety norms”. Two days back, at mid night some workers came with some equipment and started digging holes just above the PHD water pipes Street people shouted and they left the drilling. They came back in the afternoon and started drilling; on asking the workers said BeMC Commissioner has given them the permission; which was later found to be a lie. There’s are busy narrow lanes, the maintainance by electrical department is poor as ever. BSNL was spreading its wires/cables in tbe opposite side of the road. But in the recent years the Cable tv operators, Internet operators including Fibre Net cables are also using the electrical poles! The Jio-fibre net is trying to erect its own poles in the street, on asking says ‘you can earn from the poles’!
Do the civic bodies unaware of all these life threatening developments? When fire was seen at 3.30 AM, the Police and the Fire Fighting department were active and responded immediately followed by the electrical department. Now can the street expect early restoration of all basics safe soon?
