Youth is Committed to Serve Hang Himself in Police Station

Berhampur: A youth allegedly committed suicide by hanging himself to death inside Golanthara Police Station under Berhampur SP,Police district on Monday.
According to source, the accused was brought to the police station for questioning in connection with a clash at his village. He was found hanging with his belt Monday evening.
In this regard the office of Superintendent of Police, Berhampur clarified in a press note that on 03-05-2021 at about 3 P.M on receiving of a telephonic call from the inhabitant of Rangipur under Golanthara Police limit regarding ruckus created by one Ganesh Dakua S/O.late Subash Dakua of Rangipur, IIC, Golanthara who was present in the Court of SDJM, Berhampur telephonically intimated the Diary Charge Officer to send one officer for enquiry.
The said person was brought to Police Station for further enquiry and was allowed to sit in the Reception Centre of Golanthara PS with an intention to keep him on isolation in view of COVID appropriate management.
At about 8 P.M Ganesh Dakua attempted to commit suicide by hanging using his waist belt in the window grill of the reception centre without being noticed by the sentry constable(?).
Immediately he was shifted to MKCG, MCH, Berhampur for treatment where he died.
On receipt of intimation from Dr. Karunakar Pradhan , Medical Officer, Casualty MKCG-MCH, Berhampur B.N Pur PS case No. 225 Dt.03-05-2021 was registered and enquiry of the UD case entrusted to Prakash Chandra Jena,DSP Headquarter.
The inquest was done in presence of his family members and Executive Magistrate, Berhampur, Post Mortem was conducted by a team of doctors.
The process of inquest and post mortem has been Video graphed. After post mortem, the dead body of Ganesh Dakua was handed over to his family members early in the morning of 04-05-2021. Enquiry of the UD case is ON,the release said.
