YES BANK PAID JAGANATH TEMPLE FUND

BHUBANESWAR: In a major relief to Odisha Government and Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA), crisis-ridden Yes Bank remitted a part of deposits of Puri Srimandir today.
Reportedly, amount of Rs 397 crore (Principal amount of Rs 389 crore and interest Rs 8,23,27,636) to the designated SBI account of Jagannath Temple Corpus Fund at Puri main branch through e-transfer.
This was informed by Yes Bank Senior Vice-President to scribe.The remaining Rs 156 crore will be returned after maturity on March 30th he added.
Development Administrator of Sri Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) had earlier informed that there were two separate fixed deposits of Rs 389 crore and Rs 156 crore parked in Yes Bank.
Notably, the controversy surrounding Srimandir funds being parked with Yes Bank which was gradually subsiding after the Odisha government announced to transfer the deposits to a nationalised bank in February 2020, suddenly blown out of proportions after Reserve Bank Of India placed the cash strapped bank under Central Government’s Moratorium.
Few days ago a team of BJD MPs led by Prasanna Acharya met Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman to discuss the funds belonging to Puri Srimandir deposited in crisis-hit Yes Bank and Pratap Sadangi,Union Minister met the Union Finance Minster Nirmala Sitaraman and appeal. In response, the Union Minister had assured that Srimandir funds were safe and will release as soon as possible.
