ROURKELA: Rourkela is an industrial city which is surrounded by forests with large greenery. If one would look from the top of the hill nearby, can find the greenery in the area which gives utmost satisfaction. But still we need to do more on planting trees so that the ecosystem can be maintained. Despite all these still we have few areas in the city where adequate greenery is not seen rather one can find concrete jungles. This is really alarming the life of the natives. Since today is the World Environment Day, Biju Patnaik University of Technology at Chhend has observed the day with planting saplings of Ashoka Baula, Neem Amla etc. in the campus. Making the campus greener plantation of new sapling becomes more important, moreover, the construction of Birsa Munda International Hockey Stadium may take life of few trees who are aged long. Hence, making a replacement for the loss to happen, creating new greenery with trees is really the need of the hour. Plantation of this sapling was done by the forest department in association with BPUT staffs including the VC of BPUT, Dilip Kumar Sahoo, ACF, Sanjay Kumar Swain, DFO, Rourkela. It is also planned to plant another 500 more saplings inside the BPUT campus is the future plan detailed by ACF.
