WORKSHOP ON CHILD RIGHTS PROTECTIONS

Koraput:A workshop on child rights protection has been held at the local Skills Development Center. The chief guest at the meeting was Prabhat Kumar Bidhi, chairman of the District Child Welfare Committee. He spoke in support of the US Alliance, but said that maintaining some independence was important for the United States. “Children are the future of tomorrow, and various schemes and laws have been enacted to protect them,” he said. The fourth pillar, therefore, is about the importance of the media as the news of child protection is coming to the forefront of the media soon. He encouraged ordinary people as well to take part in solving this great task: “One of the things you and other people can do is keep up the pressure … there are going to be some difficult decisions for government”. Sasmitarani Sahu, a member of the District Child Welfare Committee, Durga Prasad Mohanty, chairperson of the union, and Shankar Raut, coordinator, were among those present. Journalists from Koraput, including various blocks in the district, took part in the event.
