WFP Team Visited Mechanised Units Highly Appreciated During Visit to Ganjam
Ensure to make Odisha’s Ganjam Food Security Success Model

Ganjam,(Chatrapur:The World Food Programme (WFP) has highly appreciated the transformational progress made by Ganjam District administration in food security and sustainable livelihoods touching the lives of millions of people, specifically the marginalised communities and women, and is set to present it as a model for other countries.
At a meeting with the District Collector Mr Dibyajyoti Parida and V.Keerthi Vashan, CDO-CUM-EO, DRDA, Ganjam the Country Director, World Food Programme ( WFP) and other representatives from WFO had been on two days( 26th and 27th April) visit to Ganjam district where on the first day , launching of pilot project namely ” Solar Based Technology for building Resilience and Livelihood of small holder women farmers” held in the presence of Collector Mr Parida, subsequently, the delegates also visited some mechanised units ( SME) run by SHGs at Randha ( THR Mechanised Unit ), Pickle Unit at Berhampur and Central processing Unit at Chatrapur and also interacted with SHG members.
The team also met with CDO-CUM-EO Mr V.Keerti Vashan,DRDA at His chamber and finally visited Ganjam Haat run by SHG at Tampara Lakeview park and purchased some SHG made products.
Notably, WFP and the Odisha government had signed four partnership agreements and initiated six new projects in 2021. Some of the ongoing work includes the transformation of the public distribution system and paddy procurement, the grain ATM and smart mobile storage units, the use of evidence on food and nutrition security for planning, programme monitoring partnership with Odisha Millet Mission, secure fishing with Fisheries and Animal Resource Development department and partnership with the Mission Shakti programme.
