Wedding Feast in Angul Leaves 25 Ill, Food Poisoning Suspected

Angul: What was meant to be a joyous wedding celebration in Tubey village under Jarapada Police Station limits, Angul district, ended in panic on Wednesday after more than 25 guests reportedly fell ill due to suspected food poisoning.Soon after the feast, several attendees began suffering from diarrhoea and vomiting.
As conditions worsened, around 20 people were admitted to the Angul District Headquarters Hospital, while others sought treatment at private facilities nearby. At least 15 patients remain under close observation, confirmed the Additional District Chief Medical Officer of Angul.
Preliminary findings point to food poisoning as the cause.
To establish the source, a medical team from the District Headquarters Hospital will visit the venue to collect food and water samples for laboratory testing. Officials said further action will depend on the test results.
The incident has raised concerns about food safety at large gatherings, with health authorities urging vigilance to prevent similar emergencies in the future.
