WE: Celebrating Women Empowerment & Entrepreneurship

Bhubaneswar: Commemorating the International Women’s Day 2021, Xavier University, Bhubaneswar, School of Communications organized a panel discussion consisting of eminent women professionals and entrepreneurs. The discussion was held through virtual mode on 6th March 2021.

Dr. V. Vijay Kumar, Dean (Acting), the school of communications welcomed the guest and highlighted the importance of women in society. The esteemed panelists spoke about their success stories and their struggles as women in this patriarchal society, reflected on women entrepreneurship and leadership. The panel included Dr. Lita Mohapatra (Doctor in Medicine, Fulbright Scholar, LosJovenons and Clinilogic), Ms. Sukirti Patnaik (Fonder of Indulge Salon), Ms. Leela Bordia (Founder of Neerja Pottery Inc), Ms. Rima Dhawan (Renowned Chartered Accountant of the Odisha) and Ms. Arati Devi (Youngest Women Sarpanch of India).

The theme of the discussion was Women Empowerment and Entrepreneurship. All the panelists agreed that knowledge is empowerment, slowly but surely our society has become acceptable and supportive. As women entrepreneurs, their skills were always questioned but they believed in themselves and made their country proud.

In the panel discussion it was deliberated that today’s women are confident and bold; they know their strengths and work hard to fulfill their dreams. They believe in themselves and together they can empower each other. Today’s women are no longer behind men; they stand right next to them as equals. People are accepting women as leaders and prefer them more nowadays. Education has been a primary factor in making the women leaders today and tomorrow.

There were around 60 participants from different educational institutions of the country. The panel discussed was concluded with a vote of thanks. Dr. Purnima Anjali Mohanty was the faculty coordinator of this event.
