WATER DISCHARGED FROM 24 GATES OF HIRAKUD DAM

BURLA:With the water level in Hirakud Dam rising due to incessant rain in upper catchments of Mahanadi river, the authorities opened a total of 24 gates by Friday to release excess water from the reservoir.
By 6 am today, the inflow at the dam was 6,56,006 Cusecs and outflow 3,35,658 Cusecs.Reportedly, Water flow in the downstream of the dam – 7,54,385 lakh cusec near Mundali and 6.10 lakh cusec near Barmul.
Taking note of heavy inflow of water into the Hirakud reservoir due to incessant downpour in the upper catchment of Mahanadi river, the dam authorities have opened the gates.
