Veterinary Doctors threaten to continue  strike till fulfilment of demands: OVSA

BERHAMPUR,(Bureau, odishabarta) : 13/02/24 :  THE veterinary Doctors of District F&ARD Dept. are on strike and agitation in front of the District Headquarters to press for the fulfilment of their demands.

They went on mass leave from date 18.01.24. on date12. 2. 24 there was a discussion of the veterinary Association and Government. Which was not atall fruitful . So the association decided to continue their mass leave in a vigorous manner till their legitimate demands will be fulfilled.

According to a memorandum submitted by their association, , Veterinary doctors  providing free service (24×7) with out any break but are deprived of their legitimate claims.

They are also blamed and sometimes assaulted by the public, the memorandum said.

Although there are 1910 sanctioned veterinary officers under the department in the State, only 1300 doctors are managing the job. The Officers  have neither promotional facilities nor salary hike of promotional posts as a result they are compelled to work in the same posts for more than two decades, it said.So they demand for  their DACP and NPA.

They are also compelled to perform their duties even beyond the working hours & on public holidays.

The service delivery by 22 nos of Mobile Veterinary Units of the District has been obsoleted since 18th of last month. The undue delay by the State Govt in addressing the issues of the Veterinarians of the state starts detrimental effects on the livelihood of countless livestock farmers. A good no of livestock farmers & WSHG members are devoid of getting their long-standing subsidies in time.
