UTKAL ALUMINA HOSTED “AMA NRUTYA AMA SANSKRUTI-2023” TO PRESERVE AND PROMOTE TRIBAL FOLK DANCE

Tikiri/Bhubaneswar:Utkal Alumina International Limited, a subsidiary of Hindalco Industries limited of Aditya Birla Group is committed to preserve and promote tribal folk dance “Dhimsa”. For the past nine years, the company has been holding a distinct Dhimsa Dance Festival, which has been met with an enthusiastic response from the neighbouring villagers. This year as well, the company has arranged Ama Nrutya Ama Sanskrution 20th&21st March, 2023 at Nuapada Township (Helipad Ground).

On the first day of the Dhimsa Dance Festival, 31 teams hailing from nearby villages took part in the competition. On the second day, famous folk dance forms such as Odishi, Kuchupudi, Chau, Sambalpuri, Rannappa, and Ghubukudu were performed by renowned artists from Odisha.

Sri. Dharmananda Behera, Additional District Magistrate – Chief Guest inaugurated the program as Chief Guest in the first day in presence of Mrs. Manisha Das, BDO Kashipur, Mr. Basanta Pradhan, DIPRO Rayagada and Sri Mazhar Beig, Unit Head & President of Utkal Alumina.

The Additional District Magistrate, Sri. Dharmananda Behera, commended the Dhimsa Dance Festival and recognized the efforts of Utkal Alumina in promoting it.

On the second day, the Shri Makaranda Muduli, MLA Rayagada,attended the program as Chief Guest,  while Smt. Anusaya Majhi (Chairperson Special Development Council, Rayagada), Smt. Saraswati Majhi, Chairperson Zilla Parishad Rayagada, Shri Akshaya Sahoo, Beuro Head Asian Age, Shri Ajit Sangwan, DIG, CRPF, Rayagada, Shri Bikash Bain, GMRIC, Shri Kantha Majhi, Block Chairman Kashipur along with Shri Mazhar Beig, Unit Head & President Utkal Aluminahave graced the occasion as distinguished guests.

Shri Makaranda Muduli, MLA Rayagada, praised Utkal Alumina for their efforts in organizing a program focused on developing local art and culture. He praised UAIL’s remarkable support for local communities’ skill development and hoped they would continue their CSR activities. He also appreciated their endeavours in health, education, and agriculture sectors along with the initiatives towards tribal communities’ development indicate their dedication to social welfare & contribution to creating local job opportunities through enterprise development projects aligned with the government’s vision.

Shri Mazhar Beig, Unit Head & President Utkal Aluminamentioned in his speech that Utkal Alumina believes in the comprehensive development of the communities in which the company operates. The company’s commitment to local art and culture is reflected in its annual program, Ama Nrutya Ama Sanskruti.

In a spectacular showcase of tribal culture and tradition, the Tribal Dimsa Dance competition saw 31 tribal dance groups from different periphery villages compete for the top spot. After a fierce competition, it was Team Gokulamunda and Team Haridaspur who emerged as the winners, with their exceptional performance leaving the judges impressed. The first runners up were Team Mailiguda and the second runners up were Team Thutibar. The event was a fitting tribute to the talent and creativity of tribal communities and highlighted the importance of preserving their unique cultural identity.

Over 5000 people witnessed this grand cultural event to celebrate cultural roots and diversity, with an incredible showcase of music, dance, and art from of the local communities.
