Unanimous Demand for Declaration of University for SKCG College

Paralakhemundi-Matter paralyzed when some Post-independence colleges even less than century declared Universities in Odisha. Now our government declared far later established colleges like VD College Jeypore, Rajendra College Balangir,DD College Keonjhar. Where SKCG College established on 1884 was under Madras University. Further it was founded by Late Maharaja GCGajapati on 1896.After Odisha got independence & later on it was under Andhra University. On 1943 after Utkal University established this college attached.SKCGCollege was under Brahmapur University after established on 1967.On 2002 by UGC this college recognized as Autonomous one. Served with Science, Arts & Commerce streams;where seats alloted 256,272 & 128 respectively. PG departments opened on Life Science, Odia, Chemistry, Economics & Mathematics where 16 seats allotted in each department. All total 3000 students are studying now. Out of approval of 60 teachers now 33 teachers are teaching.But we are lacking regular teachers & in various departments too Head of the Departments are not available where functioned by Associate Professors,said Dr. Ajay Kumar Tripathy. Prof. Jayant Kumar Mahapatra ex-Vice Chancellor of an alumni quipped that this college recognized as grade 1 during under Andhra University.Well infrastructure is available but lack of interest from state administration pained to declare as University said President awarded teacher Binod Chandra Jena & Activist Bhagabat Padhi. Dr. Sankar Prasad Bakshi, an alumni said that time Arrived to start agitation. Our Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik’s father Late Biju Patnaik blessed by our Late Maharaja KCGajapati for his Pilot training & his father Laxminarayan Patnaik was Deewan of our Maharaja. Despite all kith & kin relationship now we are deprived to get & hanged before state administration to paralyze the great historic college which was usually called Maharaja’s College. Now public of Paralakhemundi & nuRayagada district too supported on stiff movement for agitation till declaration as University as given status newly to 4 colleges to SKCGCollege, Paralakhemundi.
