UCP Engineering School Students Stage “Dharana” alleging ONLINE Examination

BERHAMPUR: Tension erupted at Uma Charana Patnaik Engineering School in Berhampur City after students of the college locked the main gate and sat on dharna in front of the main gate also set fire on road for fulfilment of their demands to conduct the 5th Semester Examination ONLINE instead of Offline.
Student alleged, “When we first came to the hostel, and joined our classes we were promised of our demand and the Examination shall be only on “ONLINE” keeping in view of second round warnings and SoP from Odisha government, but it has been rejected and we have been asked to appear the Examination Offline (!).
The students said that they will call of the strike only after a written assurance from the college authorities.
Notable for last couple of days, the campus of Xavier Institute of Management, Bhubaneswar has been sealed by the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation after 23 students tested positive for Covid-19 in the institute,10 students tested positive for the Covid-19 at Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bhubaneswar.
As the fear of COVID-19 doesn’t seem to end yet in India, more than 20 students have tested positive at the ALLEN Career Institute in Bhubaneswar.
Apart from this, ten fresh cases of the virus were reported from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Bhubaneswar, which is located on the outskirts of the city,7 employees of SCB Medical College in Cuttack test positive for COVID19.
As many educational institutions in Odisha are now experiencing a surge in Covid-19 cases. Even yesterday a private college in Bhawanipatna was sealed as 32 Covid-19 cases detected and CDMO, Kalahandi stated on Media.
Notably, during Feb,2021 Officials in Veer Surendra Sai University of Technology at Burla in Sambalpur district said 25 students including a girl student tested positive for Covid-19,The Vice-chancellor of the university, said 16 students were admitted to the temporary quarantine centre inside the campus while 9 others have returned to their homes.
In this regard while discussed with the Principal Mr.Surya Narayan Dhar,he said, to resolve the students issue is beyond my control as State Coucil of Odisha conducting the Examination affairs. We have officially communicated today’s issue to the Government and hopeful for some good solution in favour of the students, he added.
