UAIL Swabalamban project provides assistive devices to Divyangs

Rayagada (Badal Tah): Utkal Alumina International Limited(UAIL), a subsidiary company of Hindalco industries, successfully conducted a two-days program to empower differently abled persons of the Kashipur and Thuamul Rampur blocks of Rayagada and Kalahandi district respectively through its mines CSR initiative known as Project Swabalamban. As part of this program, assistive devices and wellness kits were provided to 74 persons with disabilities(PwDs) based on evaluations done during an earlier assessment camp.
The support given included wheelchairs, crutches, specialized seating, and rollators. These health life kits aimed at enhancing mobility and improving the quality of life of the divyangs. This initiative emphasizes Utkal Alumina mines CSR teams’ commitment for local community welfare and all-round development.
The event was witnessed by the BDO and the Child Development Project Officer (CDPO) from the Thuamul Rampur block and the District Mineral Foundation (DMF) Coordinator from Kalahandi district.
The project SWABALAMBAN is being carried out with the help of technical partner Open Learning Systems, an organisation dedicated to supporting differently abled individuals.
This program was led by the mines CSR Department head Niharika Sahoo with her team. The two days program, which showed Utkal alumina’s commitment to community welfare. By these initiatives the company continues to contribute to the development of the peripheral communities.
