UAIL Observes Nutrition Week

Rayagada, September 8: To spread the awareness about good nutrition, healthy diet and maintaining a proper lifestyle to the people around the periphery, the Utkal Alumina International Limited(UAIL), a subsidiary of Hindalco Industries Limited of Aditya Birla Group have observed the National Nutrition Week at Bhitar Musukuni village of Hadiguda Gram Panchayat. The event was jointly organized with the help of ICDS department Kashipur block.

The event focused on sensitizing women mostly Pregnant and Lactating women on healthy diet and nutritious foods. A total of 34 Aanganwadi Workers from the nearby Aanganwadi centers along with many villagers of Bhitar Musukuni were present in the event.  They actively participated by asking many questions regarding the nutritional needs during pregnancy.

The women were oriented on the recommended protein and vitamin intake especially during this gestating and lactating period. For this, live demonstrations of various foods and a detailed elaboration of their nutritional benefits were done to better propagate the significance of nutrition to grassroots level.

The Healthy Baby Show competition was organized during which the women were made aware on how Early Childhood Care is helpful for the holistic development of a child’s social, cognitive, physical, psychological and emotional needs in order to build a strong foundation for lifelong learning and wellbeing.

Also, some prizes were distributed to the women participants who showed Great Spirit in maintaining healthy Body Mass Index (BMI) and for their awareness in adhering to nutritional and good standard food-choices.

Head CSR, CR & Sustainability of UAIL,Dr. Lopamudra Priyadarsini graced the occasion as chief guest and expressed her gratitude to the women participants for attending the program and mentioned that “A woman’s nutritional status not only influences her health, but also pregnancy outcomes and the health of her fetus-neonate.

Josomani Hial, Supervisor ICDS, Renubala Parida Supervisor ICDS, Santosh Sahu, BLRP Olm Kashipur attended the event as resource person. The program was coordinated by Satyabhama Naik, Kartikeshwar Sahoo & Gajendra Naik of CSR team of Utkal Alumina.
