They threatened them that if they do not pay the money they will get them arrested by the police for smuggling cattle.

Later during investigation it was found that Santoshi Das withdrew Rs.30,000 cash from her account and paid it to Ronali Panigrahi.

She complied with instructions of Ronali Panigrahi and as per her plan withdrew the cash from an ATM and handed over the same money (Rs 30,000) to Ronali Panigrahi.  As the demanded money of 50,000/- was not paid to them they took the two Bolero Pick-ups to Golanthara PS and gave a report about cattle smuggling. Out of fear of previous assault and fear of non-release of the vehicles, the driver of the pick-up vehicle paid another Rs.10,000/- to one person known to Santoshi Das.

Out of the fear the driver of the pick-up and the cattle owner could not dare to report it to the Police. When the owner of the vehicle came to know of this, he directed the driver to lodge a complaint at police station and on the report of the driver P. Nagbhusan the above noted case was registered.
