Two judges of Orissa High Court sworn in

Cuttack: Judges designate Gouri Shankar Satpathy and Chittaranjan Dash were sworn in as the judges of Orissa High Court at a function here on Saturday.

Orissa High Court Chief Justice S Muralidhar administered the oath of office to the judges designate. Several dignitaries of the State were present at the swearing-in ceremony. With this, the number of judges in Orissa High Court, including the Chief Justice, went up to 24 against its sanctioned strength of 33 judges.

Earlier, President Droupadi Murmu had appointed the two senior judicial officers of the Orissa High Court as judges on the recommendation of the Supreme Court Collegium. Prior to their appointment as judges, Gourishankar Satpathy was working as the Director of Odisha Judicial Academy and Chittaranjan Dash was the Registrar General of Orissa High Court.
