TRIBAL WOMEN REINFORCED THEIR LIVELIHOOD THROUGH POULTRY FARMING AT GAJAPATI

Paralakhemundi:SHGs (Self help groups)of RUdayagiri block taken a miracle stand on their off-farm activities.At Baunsakata village of Chelagada panchayat Maa Santoshi SHG,Maa Gayatri SHG of Raibandha village under Sialilati panchayat and Maa Durga SHG of Tarjang of Purunapani panchayat of RUdayagiri block with the support of OTELP+(Odisha Tribal Empowerment & Livelihood)& SWWS being the implementing agency of the area trained those groups in 3 phases on poultry farming.They are supported Kadaknath varieties of chicks with all assistance of shelter & fooding for chicks too. Within 3 months with much care those quality chicks are weighed 1 to 1.5 kg.

Due to Corona all norms followed to maintain social distancing & use of masks.Being the landless they are supported to stand on their own skill to monitor with the support of Program Coordinator of SWWS Surendra Panda & Program Officer of OTELP Prabhat Kumar Ghadei.

This is a great efforts so far as livelihood is concerned & such varieties like Kadaknath will be better quality than other poultry,says Prabhat Kumar Ghadei of OTELP.Administration is tying up on marketing linkages too,added Ghadei.Among those group members Sulami Bhuyan,Kuni Raita,Surji Jani,Kainta Jani & Hina Dalai says,”SWWS could build our skill & human resources to stand our livelihood being deprived of cultivable land & chasing on better way through Off-farm activities”.
