TPSODL Strengthens Power Infrastructure in Tribal-Dominated Malkangiri

Berhampur : TP Southern Odisha Distribution Limited (TPSODL) has successfully upgraded the Mathili Primary Substation (PSS) in Malkangiri district, a region known for its rugged terrain and predominantly tribal population. This enhancement ensures a more stable and reliable electricity supply to thousands of residents in one of Odisha’s most remote areas.
Malkangiri is a district in southern Odisha known for its picturesque landscapes, dense forests, and rich tribal heritage. It is home to several indigenous communities, contributing to its vibrant cultural identity. The region is characterized by hilly terrain, deep valleys, and numerous water bodies, making it one of the most scenic yet geographically challenging areas in the state.
The Mathili PSS previously operated with two power transformers—a 5 MVA unit and a 3.15 MVA unit. With the latest upgrade, the 3.15 MVA transformer has been replaced with a new 5 MVA transformer, increasing the substation’s total capacity to 10 MVA. This improvement will directly benefit more than 6,000 consumers, ensuring uninterrupted power supply to residential areas, schools, healthcare centers, and government offices.
Mr. Amit Kumar Garg, CEO of TPSODL, emphasized the importance of this upgrade, stating, “The upgrade of Mathili Primary Substation is a step toward ensuring uninterrupted and quality electricity for the people of Malkangiri. By enhancing capacity, we are improving power reliability in this tribal-dominated, hilly region. Our commitment remains strong in strengthening infrastructure and empowering communities with seamless energy access.”
TPSODL remains committed to strengthening power infrastructure in tribal and hilly regions like Malkangiri, ensuring equitable access to electricity and supporting regional development.
