TPSODL Advances Digital Transformation with Drone Technology and ADMS Launch

Berhampur : In a significant step towards enhancing power distribution services, TP Southern Odisha Distribution Limited (TPSODL) has launched two key digital initiatives—Drone Technology for GIS Survey and Operational Excellence, and the first phase of the Advanced Distribution Management System (ADMS) at BED-II Division of Berhampur City Circle.
Mr. Amit Kumar Garg, CEO, TPSODL, inaugurated both initiatives in the presence of the leadership team, marking a new era in operational efficiency, safety, and customer service. With the deployment of cutting-edge drone technology, TPSODL aims to strengthen infrastructure monitoring, enhance asset management, and improve service reliability. The drones, equipped with GIS capabilities, will facilitate high-precision surveys of electrical assets, including poles, transformers, and substations, even in difficult terrains. Aerial inspections will help identify asset anomalies, thermal hotspots, and potential defects to prevent breakdowns, ensuring a more reliable power supply. In the event of natural disasters like cyclones and floods, drones will provide real-time aerial surveys for faster damage assessment. Workforce safety remains a top priority, and drone-based surveillance will further enhance safety measures. Additionally, drones with a radial coverage of 7-8 km will assist in detecting and curbing electricity theft in resistive areas, reinforcing TPSODL’s commitment to operational excellence and efficiency.
Further strengthening its digital transformation journey, TPSODL has launched the first phase of ADMS, a smart system designed to streamline power supply management and customer service. The initial rollout at BED-II Division will play a crucial role in minimizing power supply disruptions, enhancing service reliability, and improving safety and efficiency in field operations. The system will enable swift responses to outages and customer complaints while facilitating proactive communication regarding power interruptions. With real-time insights, ADMS will ensure superior service delivery and a more responsive power distribution network. The successful implementation at BED-II marks the beginning of a phased rollout across TPSODL, with future advancements set to include outage management, load forecasting, and further automation.
These initiatives reaffirm TPSODL’s commitment to adopting state-of-the-art technology to create a smarter, safer, and more resilient power distribution network, ensuring reliable and quality services for its valued customers.
