Berhampur: Tightening the noose around Gold smugglers, Police on Sunday morning caught huge amount of gold and silver from a car in Berhampur of Odisha’s.The Golontahar Police have seized 4.664 kg Gold and 185.5 kg Silver.
According to Mr.Saravana Vivek,M,IPS,“We had raided on suspicion of illegal transportation of Gold and Silver.Keepng the information on priority today early morning” , Golanthara PS staff were performing Naka and checking duty just in front of Police station. At that time, one vehicle was found moving suspiciously and hence it was detained.
Upon searching the vehicle , some secret chambers were found. Within the secret chamber behind the back seat , huge quantity of silver and gold were found. Upon further verification it was found to be 4.664 kg Gold and 185.5 kg Silver.
As per the source,it has been learnt that the huge amount of Gold and Silver was being smuggled from Tamil Nadu to Berhampur of Odisha and Three people have been detained in this connection.
Preliminary investigation showed that the Karnataka registered four wheeler was coming from Tamilnadu and the Gold and Silver were for delivery in Berhampur. Further investigation underway.
