Thousands of Pregnant Lady been Evacuated to Safety Place in Koraput

Koraput:The storm is likely to pass through five blocks of Koraput district.  The effects of the storm have been felt in Koraput.  The monsoon continued to rain in Koraput district, although the storm did not touch the ground.  It has been raining heavily with thunderstorms since yesterday, and it has been raining heavily since this morning.  The clouds are dark.  It has been raining heavily since noon.  The district administration has warned people in the hilly and low-lying areas in view of the rains.  A 24-hour control room has been set up in all 14 blocks of the district.  115 shelters have been opened in the district.  More than 4,500 people have been evacuated.  1,000 pregnant women have also been evacuated.  They have been placed in maternity, medical and safe places by bike ambulance.

 The Koraput district administration has taken precautionary measures as it is likely to enter Chhattisgarh via Narayan Patna, Patangi, Semiliguda, Koraput, Jaipur and Kotpad in Koraput district, which is located on the Andhra border, the district magistrate said.  Forty thousand people are expected to be affected.  These blocks include the Tahsildar, Video, Police, Health Department, Anganwadi, Supply Department.

 More alert.  Koraput Additional District Magistrate Deben Kumar was present in the main control room to oversee the work.  “All the preparations have been made by the power department,” said Chaman Lakra, an engineer with 300 workers.  All mechanical equipment is in stock to deal with the storm.  “There will be no problem for recovery,” he said.  The Department of Roads and Buildings appears to have machines in place to rehabilitate the road.

The district magistrate has appealed to the people of all the areas affected by the storm to be vigilant and not to leave their homes.  Similarly, when two NDRF teams arrived in the district, they were sent to Pattangi and Laxmipur, according to the district emergency department.  As of 5 pm, Koraput district has received 102.8 mm of rainfall.  He encouraged ordinary people as well to take part in solving this great task: “One of the things you and other people can do is keep up the pressure … there are going to be some difficult decisions for government”.

Koraput district Collector Mohammad Abdal Akhtar said people were being warned in 14 blocks and eight municipalities of the district for possible storms.  Block officials will be present at their respective headquarters at night.  A 24-hour control room has been set up in the district.  He encouraged ordinary people as well to take part in solving this great task: “One of the things you and other people can do is keep up the pressure … there are going to be some difficult decisions for government”.
