KORAPUT:The COVID-19 Theatre Webinar Series being organized by Nandanik, a theatre group based in Koraput district of Odisha, Sanjay Upadhyay, the Ptna based ace Theatre maestro said that every tune has a story and one should listen various music and sounds minutely to understand its implication and application.
In the webinar titled Theatre & Music, Upadhyay, a NSD ian and a Sangeet Natak Akademi Awardee, emphasised on the emotion associated with different sounds of animates and explained the various technical aspects of sound like timber, tone etc. He also explained the various types of musical instruments like ghanavadya, phunkvadya and different types of theatre music like alaap, vilaap, created effects, interpretative, literal, tribal music to name a few referring to his productions like Bidesia and Ashad ke ek din.
The lecture of Shri Upadhyay was summed up by Shri Dhira Mallik, eminent theatre director of Odisha who complimented him for explaining the application of music in theatre and mentioned the staging of Bidesia in Bhubaneswar.
The lecture was followed up by questions by eminent theatre artists like Shri Subodh Patnaik, Lalatendu Rath, Atanu Sarkar, Parameswar Mund, Sushanta Pani, Dr Mangesh Bansod to name a few.
