The 77th Independence Day was celebrated with great zeal and enthusiasm at NTPC Kaniha

Talcher:On August 15.Shri N S Rao, ED NTPC Kaniha hoisted the national flag at Ambedkar Stadium,PTS and inspected the parade of CISF, Township Security Force and students of the three schools of the Township. Shri Brij Kishore Pandey, AGM(HR) and Shri Brij Bhusan Singh DC CISF, Smt. Vijaya Rao, President, Tanvi Sangam Ladies Club, Smt. Renu Sehgal Vice president of the Club,representatives of unions and Association and senior members of Tanvi Sangam Ladies Club were present on the occasion.
Colourful balloons were released the mark the occasion.
Addressing the gathering, Shri Rao informed that the Kaniha Power Plant had secured 4th position in terms of annual Plant Load Factor(PLF) among all NTPC Stations in the financial year 2022-23.He said that Kaniha Power Plant was ranked at 8th in the country in terms of annual PLF in the last 2022-23 financial year.He added that unit 4 made a continuous run of 466 days without stopping ,which was a record in NTPC.He informed that Kaniha had received the prestigious British Safety Council International Award for the second time in a row, the CII-ITC Corporate Excellence Award and Kalinga Environment Excellence Award.He expressed the hope that the employees of Kaniha would continue their good work and sustain the high performance level in this year also.
He said that NTPC was committed to generating clean power in an environment friendly manner at affordable prices in a safe and secure environment. Today NTPC has an installed capacity of 73024 MW and meets 24% of country’s power requirement.In the current financial year, Kaniha had generated 8069 Million Units(MU) at impressive PLF of 82.4%.He informed that so far over 15 LMT ash had been disposed in the mine void quarry 8 through pipelines.
This will reduce our dependence of Ash dyke,he added.Besides this, dry ash is being evacuated in covered trucks and rakes for gainful use in nearby areas.
He said that 10 girls selected on the basis of their performance from the recently concluded GEM workshop had been granted admission to SSVM school in the Township.
Earlier,in the morning, the National Flag was hoisted at the Administrative Building by Shri A K Sehgal, GM(O&M), who extended Independence Day greetings to all and recalled the great sacrifice that the freedom fighters had made for our motherland.
Employees received HOP(Head of Project) Merit Awards and Power Excel Awards for their outstanding performance in their respective areas of work.A grand cultural programme was presented by the students of the township schools.
Later ,Shri Rao and other dignitaries visited the NTPC hospital and enquired about the wellbeing of the patients and distributed fruits among them.
