Suraja Murder Case of Berhampur; Police Open the Success of Sec 302 & Gained Public Confidence.

Berhampur: The Berhampur Police has launched a special drive to execute the recent murder case of Mrs.Suraja Behera (57 Yrs), W/O- Bijaya Chandra Behera, At- Alakapuri, 7th Line Extension Lane, Berhampur, PS- B. Sadar, Dist- Ganjam, under Sadar Police station limit.
Acting on a tip-off, police lead by Siba Shankar Mohapatra,SDPO,(Sadar ) raided the neck point houses and taken the assistance of Police Dog and Scientific team and arrested a youth involved.
The accused identified as Balia @ Balaram Sahu (26 Yrs), S/O- Late Biranchi Sahu, Village- Desi Behera Sahi, Boirani, PS- Kabi Surjya Nagar, At/Present- Danua Sahi, Bhabinipur, PS- B. Sadar, Dist- Ganjam.
Police have recovered (1)Weapon of offence i.e. blood stained Iron kitchen Knife used in the crime, (2) wearing apparels of accused, (3) Redme Mobile phone of deceased containing the pass port photo of the deceased, (4) Vanity bag, and (5) Aadhar Card of deceased.6) Small ornament box containing the KALA MALI,
Today in a press meet Pinak Mishra,SP Berhampur describe to media persons During investigation of the case, it is ascertained that, the deceased Smt. Suraja Behera (57) was staying in her house along with her husband Bijaya Chandra Behera,District Welfare officer,Retd. Her only son is now serving at Bhubaneswar BMC and the daughter who is married is staying at Engineering School chhack, Berhampur with her husband.
The accuse come clean that,Bijaya Ch. Behera ( husband of the deceased called one Balia @ Balaram Sahu (26 Yrs), who is an Almirah worker staying near the house of the complainant . to repair the lock and key of the almirah on 24.2.2022 and for repair of the almirah , the accused. Came to the house of the complainant . for three times and was given Rs.1700/- by Bijaya Ch. Behera and left the house of Bijaya Ch. Behera by 3.30 PM. While repairing the almirah, the accused noticed the box of the gold ornaments . In the evening at about 6 P.M., finding Bijaya Ch Behera was out from house for evening walk, the accused.
With an intention to commit theft entered into the house by climbing the front boundary wall and he was noticed by the deceased, who warned him to inform Police. Being aggrieved and also to be identified, the accused. Picked up kitchen knife from the kitchen and assaulted the deceased by means of the knife at drawing room causing severe bleeding injuries and took away the carry bag , vanity bag and mobile phone of the deceased by the locking the door grill gate from outside with an intention that, the deceased might not inform any one soon after the occurrence. At about 7 P.M., husband of the deceased Bijaya Ch Behera came to house and found the door grill gate was locked from the outside and it was his lock . He called the deceased over mobile phone but it was not responded and he went to the house of daughter and called his son in law and came to the house and broke open the lock by means of iron rod and hammer and entered into the house and found the deceased was lying dead on drawing room with pool of blood. Then he informed his son and other relatives who came to the spot.
During investigation of the case, the suspect Balia @ Balaram Sahu was apprehended on 28.2.2022 , who confessed his guilty and led the Police party for recovery of the mobile phone and the weapon offence i.e knife and his wearing apparels stained with blood.
The accused. Has been arrested on 28.2.2022 at 09.30 AM and forwarded to court after recovery of the stolen mobile phone, weapon of offence and other articles and medical examination, as there are marks of violence on the body of the accused Balaram Sahu.Mishra added.
Basis on the strength of written complaint by Rasmi Ranjan Behera,S/O- deceased Suraja Behera Sadar Police registered a case – 95 Dated. 25.02.2022 U/S- 302 IPC turned to U/S- 459/394/302 IPC.
