Supreme Court Rejects Anticipatory Bail Plea of MLA Jayanarayan Mishra
New Delhi: The anticipatory bail plea of Odisha BJP MLA Jayanarayan Mishra was rejected by the Supreme Court on Thursday.
Mishra had approached the apex court with the bail plea related to the incident of slapping a female police officer during a protest in Sambalpur February 15, 2023.
Orissa High Court had earlier on November 16, 2023 rejected the anticipatory bail plea of the MLA in the case.Rejecting the bail plea, the bench of Justices Hrishikesh Roy and SVN Bhatti said, “People in leadership position must set an example for public behavior.”
On February 15, 2023, BJP activists held a protest near the Sambalpur Collectorate. It was alleged that during the protest of the saffron party Mishra had allegedly slapped Dhanupali police station IIC Anitarani Pradhan
