STF, Odisha Busted Arms Smuggling Racket & Seized Firearms (!)

Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Special Task Force crew of Crime Branch Friday busted a gang of arm smugglers and seized Two nos 7 MM Pistol with Magazine, 6 no’s of Country made Single bore pistol and 20 numbers of country made live ammunitions from their possession.
The criminals were identified as Suresh Kumar Das @ Kalia and Soumyaranjan Dalei of Jagatsinghpur area in Cuttack.
According to STF source, basing on intelligence input regarding illegal possession/sale of illegal fire arms by some criminals a team of officers of STF intercepted the above persons on Friday near Sikharghat bridge under Niali Police station limit in Cuttack district.
In this connection STF PS case No.12 dated 09.04.2021 U/s. 25/27 Arms Act has been registered and investigation is on. Both the above noted persons were arrested and will be forwarded to the court.
Further investigation is continuing to ascertain the source of procurement of the firearms,” said an official.
Notably,during last one year, STF has seized as many as 22 firearms, 54 live ammunition’s and arrested seven criminals.
