STF-CB of Odisha Police is Specialized to Curb the Organized Crime

Bhunaneswar:On the basis of reliable information, STF team conducted a raid on Gania-Chamundia road near Maa Kalapata Mandir, on the bank of Mahanadi river under Nayagarh district about a deal of sale of Leopard skin and Elephant tusk by wild life criminals on Saturday, as a result of which two accused persons namely Ramesh Pratihari of village, Chakragada PS, Narsinghpur Dist Cuttack and BimbadharTarei village, Bethia Sahi, PS Gania, of district Nayagarh were apprehended.

The expert team were seized one Leopard skin and two numbers elephant tusk and other incriminating materials from their possession. Because the professional accuse persons could not produce any valid authority in support of possession of such leopard skin and elephant tusk, for which they have been arrested.

STF is the specialized wing of Odisha Police to curb the organized crime in the State. Wild life crimes remain the one of the focus area of STF and STF will continue its drive against the wild life crime and criminals.

 During last one year, Special driver against the wildlife criminals/poachers have been launched, STF has seized as many as 13nos Leopard skin , 09 nos Elephant Tusk, 02 deer skin, 03 live pangolin and 05 kg pangolin scales and arrested 27 wild life criminals. Al total 15 cases have been registered against the wild life criminals.

In this connection STF PS Case No.16 dated 24.04.2021 U/s. 379/411/120(B) IPC r/w. 51 of Wild Life (Protection) Act, 1972 was registered. The seized leopard skin and elephant tusk will be sent to Wild Life Institute of India, Deharadun for chemical examination. Investigation is on.
