State Conference on ‘India as a World Power: Its Problems and Solutions’ at Semiliguda College
Sunabeda : (Shaik Ibrahim): A state level seminar on the topic”India as a Global Power: Issues and Challenges was conducted at Semiliguda College on 8/3/24. The Chief Speaker of the event was renowned Political Science Professor from Berhampur University Prof. Bishnu Charan Chowdhury. As an avid speaker, he dealt the subject from different aspects. He specifically emphasized that, presently India is rightly considered as a Global power. The development in science and technology, agriculture, increase in per capita income has been significant and has put us in the forefront. The Covid Pandemic was a glaring example where we not only took care of ourself but also supplied vaccines that were very effective to the entire world. The country and the state today has various individuals handling large companies across the world, in senior positions of the corporate sector. We also reiterated the fact that we have to maintain and improvise the quality of education and the new education system should bring about a positive change. The youth of the country should be focussed and work hard towards achieving greater heights. The best part among all of this is that we still consider the entire world to be part of the “Vasudevam Kutumbakkam’ and the base of our foreign policy is based on non violence. Our development in the field of nuclear energy has made us more stronger and powerful but we still maintain and believe in the principles of the Constitution, secularism and today have the largest democracy functioning successfully.
Founder of the college Shri Krishna Singh graced the occasion as the Guest of Honour. He highlighted upon various aspects, citing how India has been able to be a beacon of development across all fields and arenas. He emphasised that though we have been front runners in many fields, still we are missing on social equality and economic equality aspects. The youth should work towards bringing in social justice and social equality in the society.
