Rayagada, February 24: Receiving a tip off on last Sunday from a local scribe, Rayagada SP Dr. Saravana Vivek M, IPS with his team of police officers, scientific team and sniffer dog reached the foot hill jungle at Nua Sahi and traced a skeleton cladded with military dress. A bag containing some other civil clothes, a cell phone, a cheque book, a wallet and Aadhar card, etc was also recovered from the post. The Aadhar card was identified as Dharam Dev from Uttar Pradesh. Dharam was serving as a Havildar in CRPF’s 4th Battalion. The second-in-command Sri S K Thakur confirmed the authenticity of the belongings. As the body got completely decomposed, it could not be confirmed to be of Dharam’s.
Dharam was stationed at Seiskhal police station.
On December 29th he took a bus from Seiskhal to Rayagada to
come to the CRPF camp of 4th battalion. He was supposed to be deputed to Delhi
for official purpose; but unfortunately he did not go to the camp. A missing
report was lodged by his family members on January 2nd. Since then
the police was haunting this case.
On Moday, Dr.Sarvana during a press meet
informed that the skeleton and other necessary remnants were handed over to his
son. According to him, this is neither a suicide nor a murder as per the
preliminary prima facie evidence. It could be a natural death. Dharam was
getting treatment under a psychiatrist, who was being consulted about Dharam’s
problems. The expert doctors were examining the case through post mortem. If
some vital clues did not come out, the case would be referred to forensic
experts. A logical conclusion could then be drawn after this investigative process
was over, said Saravana.
