BJP DEMANDS TRIAL OF PRADEEP PANIGRAHY

BERHAMPUR:On Sunday the Ganjam unit of BJP  demanded criminal proceedings against Gopalpur MLA Pradeep Panigrahy who was suspended from BJD for “anti-people activities.”The BJP leaders alleged that Panigrahy has collected lakhs of rupees from ousters’ of Tata’s proposed mega steel plant, which has now been renamed as Gopalpur Industrial park, by giving them assurance of employment. District BJP president Bibhuti Jena with his supporters submitted a memorandum to Berhampur SP Pinak Mishra urging action against Panigrahy and his supporters.

Jena alleged, Panigrahy & Co collected a huge sum of rupees from innocent locals. “The MLA with the help of his would be son-in-law Akash Pathak had issued fake appointment letters to 63 unemployed youths of Ganjam.

After Panigrahy’s expulsion from BJD, party leaders preferred to maintain a safe distance from the MLA. Hailing the action against Panigrahy, district party leaders including Ramesh Chandra Choupatnaik and Subash Moharana said this proves that Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik never tolerates and excuses any nature of indiscipline and corruption in the party.

In the meantime a Crime Branch team has reached Berhampur city in Ganjam district from Sunday evening to investigate alleged job fraud by Akash Pathak.

The nine-member SIT team of the Crime Branch reached here to probe into alleged fake recruitment by Akash Pathak for Tata Motors.

Sources said, more than 60 candidates were victimised, who had appeared for interviews, are under scrutiny of both Vigilance and Crime Branch.

Father-son both Abhay & Akash Pathak were arrested by the Vigilance on November 27 on charges of accumulating massive “ill-gotten” wealth. During a country-wide search at premises belonging to the IFS officer, the vigilance stumbled upon many incriminating papers and documents pertaining to fake properties and bank deposits worth over Rs 9.35 corers,(approx) which was about 435 per cent more than his known sources of his income, Sources.

Notably. Tata Motors had issued a clarification the company had also filed a complaint with the Crime Branch after the issue came into front that Akash Kumar Pathak was identified as Managing Director (I/C) of Passenger Vehicle division at Pune (?).
