Shocking: 2 Women Rescued While Walking Naked On Road In Sundargarh Identified in Odisha

Sundargarh: A woman and her daughter who were rescued yesterday while they were walking naked on a main road in Sundargarh town of this district have been identified. The duo along with the woman’s two more daughters were repeatedly raped by a youth, the rape survivor expressed Sunday.
The victims belong to Khaibahal village of neighbouring Jharkhand. The mentally disturbed middle-aged woman told her name when asked.
However, it has not been ascertained yet as to how they reached a bridge on College Road in the town, from where they were rescued by BJP MLA Kusum Tete.
“The two women were spotted while walking along College Road, which is one of the busiest roads in Sundargarh, with no clothes on. The road had congested traffic and there were a number of onlookers but nobody even offered them a piece of cloth to cover their bodies,” the BJP leader stated.
“I noticed and later rescued them when I was crossing the bridge on Ib River, the MLA said.
According to a source, the rescued mother-daughter duo has been kept in an Astha Gruha (a rescue and rehabilitation center for mentally ill women) in the custody of its secretary Snehalata Patel.
The two were not able to speak a single word at the time of being rescued. The woman’s daughter is not yet able to utter anything. However, the woman has recovered a little bit from her mental stress after receiving medical treatment. A youth of Khaibahal village named Sunil had been forcibly raping the family members for the past several days, the rape survivor said speaking about her plights.
Taking the matter seriously, Sundargarh SP Pratyush Diwaker launched a probe into the incident, which is underway. A team of Sadar police today recorded the statement of the middle-aged woman.
Notably, Kusum Tete was on her way from her native Tasaladihi village to take part in a congregation of tribal women in front of the District Collector’s office. After seeing the two naked women, she stopped on the road and immediately covered their bodies with a cloth that she put around her neck.
Later, the MLA sent the two rescued women to Astha Gruha and informed the local police about it.
