Rayagada, September 28: Basanta Ulaka, BJP State permanent invitee and potential MLA candidate from Rayagada constituency, has appealed Dangasil villagers and Rayagada district administration to restore peace in Dangasil area of Kashipur.

Recently tension erupted in Dangasil village after a class three girl student of Dangasil UP school in Dangasil village was allegedly raped by the school peon named Siba Prasad Mishra. There was a tussle between police and the villagers as they repeatedly asked the police to handover the school peon to them. Police apprehended the culprit, took him to its custody and directed the headmaster of the school to file an FIR. The violent mob got berserk, torched a police van and vandalised a police Jeep. Police was compelled to lathi charge and then issue 144 to contain any law and order situation. Though the people are saying that police did not receive the FIR of the victim girl’s father, police is vehemently refuting this charge. According to police, 6-8 perpetrators of the violence have been arrested.

Taking stock of the situation Basant Ulaka, who is also the Convenor of Rayagada Zilla Adibasi Mahasangha, has condemned the incident and empathised with the family members of the victim girl and requested the police to immediately file the charge sheet against the culprit for corporal punishment.

He has asked the police to release the villagers arrested by it at the earliest to ease tension in the area. Rayagada people are peaceful in nature and this simplicity should not be considered as their weakness. In fitness of things, the district administration should be sensitive in tackling with this issue. The victim girl must receive proper treatment and if required, be referred to better hospitals at the cost of the state, said Ulaka.
