Setting Up Of Help Desks In Govt Hospitals; Senior Nursing Officer To Work As ‘Swasthya Sanjojak’

Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Government has decided to set up help desks at all the govt-run medical colleges and hospitals. In this regard, guidelines have also been issued.
The Superintendent of the Medical College & Hospital has been instructed to identify a senior Nursing Officer having the suitable attitude and aptitude to work as “Swasthya Sanjojak”, whose duty would be to act as a link between the hospital and patient’s family/attendant and who will disseminate the up-to-date information about the health condition/treatment of the IPD patient to her/his family members.
According to a notification released today, the Health and Family Welfare department said that during the outbreak of COVID-19, it was felt necessary that the prevalent system of informing the family members/ attendants of the respective IPD patients regarding the updated information on the health condition of the patient, need to be strengthened so that the family members/ attendants would be able to get detail information about the treatment & health condition of the patient. This would be quite helpful to the relatives/attendants of patients admitted in ICU / HDU, where access of the attendants is restricted.
In view of the above, Government, after careful consideration have been pleased to decide to strengthen the help desk already functioning/set up help desk in each Government Medical College and Hospital of the State for better dissemination of updated information on health condition & treatment of the IPD patients to their respective attendants and/ or family members, read the notification.
For the purpose of making the help desk fully functional and vibrant, a senior Nursing Officer of the Government Medical College and Hospital having the suitable attitude and aptitude may be nominated by the Superintendent of the MCH as the “Swasthya Sanjojak”, whose duty would be to act as a link between the hospital and patient’s family/attendant and who will disseminate up-to-date information about the health condition/ treatment of the patient to her/his family members. The Swasthya Sanjojak may be deployed from the existing manpower.
