Seizure of Property of Drug Peddlers around Rs 2 Crore in NDPS Case

Bhubaneswar:Under the provision of chapter V A of NDPS Act (Section A- Z) there is a provision of seizing and forfeiture of ill gotten property (illegally acquired property from Narcotics business in last six years).
During investigation of STF P.S. Case No.14/2020 moveable/immoveable properties worth of around Rs.2 crores, acquired by drug peddler Sk. Samiruddin @ Taklu Raja S/o. Sk Sadiruddin of Jhadeswarpur PS. Jaleswar Dist. Balasore out of contraband brown sugar business have been identified and seized. Competent Authority and Administrator of NDPS Act, Kolkata, who is a quasi judicial authority under NDPS Act has been requested for forfeiture of the illegally acquired property.
In this case, on 23.02.2020, contraband brown sugar 405 grams were seized. However this is worth to mention that many narcotics cases are pending against Taklu Raja both at STF and at Balasore districts. During course of investigation, financial investigation was conducted in which illegally acquired properties worth around Rs 02 Crores were identified and seized. A detailed proposal for confirmation of seizure/ forfeiture of the properties earned out of contraband drugs business was sent to the office of Competent Authority, Kolkota as per provision of Sec. 68 (F) NDPS Act, 1985.
Seized properties include 11 land plots and Bank deposits.
